Short answer: PlaceMaker and MyWay are both route planner apps for iPhone and Android, built for drivers who plan their own routes. PlaceMaker charges by route size and does not optimize on its free plan; MyWay optimizes for free up to 15 stops, and $9.99 a month covers routes of up to 200 stops — the size PlaceMaker splits between its $9.99 and $14.99 plans. PlaceMaker has no team product; MyWay Teams — our dispatch version with live driver tracking — is coming soon. And you feel the difference the moment you open the app: PlaceMaker’s interface is dated and complex next to MyWay’s modern, simple one.
Key differences
Solo drivers: PlaceMaker vs MyWay Route Planner
- One price for a working day. MyWay Pro costs $9.99 a month for routes of up to 200 stops. PlaceMaker charges $4.99 a month for up to 25 stops, $9.99 for up to 150 and $14.99 for more — so a 160-stop day costs $14.99 on PlaceMaker and $9.99 on MyWay.
- Yearly price. MyWay Expert costs $79.99 a year for 200 stops. On PlaceMaker, $79.99 a year buys the 150-stop plan; more stops cost $119.99.
- The free plan. MyWay’s free plan optimizes routes of up to 15 stops. PlaceMaker’s free version keeps lists of up to 5 stops and does not optimize them.
- Import. MyWay imports spreadsheets on every plan. PlaceMaker limits a CSV import to 5 stops on its free plan and still to 5 on the paid 25-stop plan; the bigger plans import 250 stops at a time — half of the 500-stop list.
- The first and last stop never move. PlaceMaker’s optimization keeps your first and last stop where they are. MyWay optimizes the whole route.
- Cancelling. A PlaceMaker subscription can’t be cancelled during its active period.
- Proof of delivery and time windows. MyWay includes both on every plan. PlaceMaker does not list them.
- Route size. PlaceMaker’s top plan supports up to 500 stops per list. MyWay plans up to 200 stops per route today, and 500 stops per route is coming soon.
- Interface. In our experience PlaceMaker feels dated: lists, menus and settings rather than a route you can act on. MyWay is modern and simple.
Teams: PlaceMaker vs MyWay Teams
- PlaceMaker has no team product. You can share a list through Google Drive on iOS or by email on Android, but there is no dispatch and no tracking.
- MyWay Teams is coming soon — a web dashboard for dispatchers and live driver tracking.
- Until then, MyWay keeps a team simple: every driver uses MyWay Route Planner Pro at $9.99 a month, with proof of delivery in the app.
Features
PlaceMaker Route Planner
PlaceMaker keeps lists of places, optimizes them into routes on its paid plans and scans text and barcodes to enter addresses. It imports CSV files, within the stop limits of your plan, and shares lists with other people.

PlaceMaker Route Planner
MyWay Route Planner and MyWay Teams
MyWay Route Planner covers the whole working day of a driver who plans their own route. Add stops by typing, by importing a CSV or Excel file, or by taking a photo of your list. Give each stop the details you need — an apartment number, a colour, a contact to call on arrival — with customizable stop fields. MyWay tries thousands of stop orders to find the fastest one, respects time windows and priorities, and can avoid U-turns or account for the size of your vehicle. Proof of delivery is included on every plan, even the free one.
This is where the difference shows on a real route. On MyWay you never check how many stops your plan allows before you import today’s list — up to 200, it is all one price. MyWay Teams, coming soon, adds the dispatcher’s side: a web dashboard and live tracking of every driver.

MyWay Route Planner
Ease of use
In our experience PlaceMaker’s interface feels dated — a notebook of lists and menus rather than a route you can act on.
MyWay is built for speed on the road. The important information stays on screen, everything else is one tap away, and adding or closing a stop takes a second. A second here, half a second there: on a route with hundreds of stops, that saves 3–5 minutes every day.
