Short answer: Upper and MyWay both build optimized multi-stop routes, and both have a product for solo drivers and one for teams. For a solo driver, MyWay Route Planner costs $9.99 a month — half the price of Upper Solo at $19.99 — and has a free plan, which Upper does not. Upper Solo plans bigger routes today, up to 500 stops. For teams, Upper Crew is available today, priced per user; MyWay Teams — our dispatch version with live driver tracking — is coming soon. And you feel the difference the moment you open the app: Upper’s interface is dated and complex next to MyWay’s modern, simple one.

Key differences

Solo drivers: Upper Solo vs MyWay Route Planner

  • Half the monthly price. MyWay Pro costs $9.99 a month; Upper Solo costs $19.99 — $120 a year more.
  • Yearly price. MyWay Expert costs $79.99 a year; Upper Solo costs $189.99 a year — more than twice as much.
  • A free plan. MyWay’s free plan plans routes of up to 15 stops, with no limit on the number of routes and proof of delivery included. Upper has no free plan, only a 3-day trial.
  • Route size. Upper Solo plans routes of up to 500 stops. MyWay plans up to 200 stops per route today, and 500 stops per route is coming soon.
  • Import. Both import CSV and Excel files and read stops from a photo of your list — but Upper Solo’s help says spreadsheets must be imported through its web interface.
  • No second route without paying. On Upper Solo you must be on a subscription to add two or more routes. MyWay’s free plan has no limit on the number of routes.
  • Interface. In our experience Upper’s interface looks like it came from the Windows 8 era — dated and crowded. MyWay is modern and simple.

Teams: Upper Crew vs MyWay Teams

  • Upper Crew is available today, but the entry plan is tightly capped. Starter, $50 a month per user ($40 on annual billing), allows 250 stops per route, up to 10 drivers, 1,000 saved addresses, 6 months of history and 3 photos per stop — and has no time windows, no live tracking for the admin and no customer notifications. Those start with Professional at $60 ($48 annual) per user, which allows 15 drivers.
  • Add-ons on top: live tracking for your customers costs $20 per driver, capacity planning $25 per driver, barcode scanning $50 per company, and SMS from $0.01 per text.
  • MyWay Teams is coming soon — a web dashboard for dispatchers and live driver tracking.
  • Until then, MyWay keeps a team simple: every driver uses MyWay Route Planner Pro at $9.99 a month, with proof of delivery already in the app.

Features

Upper Route Planner

Upper Solo optimizes routes of up to 500 stops, imports stops from Excel and CSV files, reads addresses from a photo of a manifest and handles pickups and deliveries on the same route. Upper Crew adds a web dashboard for dispatchers, live tracking and SMS and email notifications for your customers.

MyWay Route Planner and MyWay Teams

MyWay Route Planner covers the whole working day of a driver who plans their own route. Add stops by typing, by importing a CSV or Excel file, or by taking a photo of your list. Give each stop the details you need — an apartment number, a colour, a contact to call on arrival — with customizable stop fields. MyWay tries thousands of stop orders to find the fastest one, respects time windows and priorities, and can avoid U-turns or account for the size of your vehicle. Proof of delivery is included on every plan, even the free one.

This is where the difference shows on a real route. You get the same core workflow — import, photo stops, optimized order — for half Upper’s price, and you can start on a free plan instead of a 3-day clock. MyWay Teams, coming soon, adds the dispatcher’s side: a web dashboard and live tracking of every driver.

Ease of use

In our experience Upper’s interface looks like it came from the Windows 8 era — dated and crowded next to today’s apps.

MyWay is built for speed on the road. The important information stays on screen, everything else is one tap away, and adding or closing a stop takes a second. A second here, half a second there: on a route with hundreds of stops, that saves 3–5 minutes every day. MyWay is simply a better-looking app to spend a working day in.
