Route planning challenges in the Philippines
Metro Manila drivers lost about 143 hours to rush-hour traffic in 2025, according to TomTom. On weekdays, the MMDA’s number coding scheme keeps vehicles off major roads from 7 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. by the last digit of the plate (1 and 2 on Mondays through 9 and 0 on Fridays). A separate truck ban keeps larger trucks off major roads during the peaks.
NLEX, SLEX, Skyway, CAVITEX and other Luzon expressways collect tolls by RFID through Easytrip and Autosweep, and since late 2024 one new account covers both. Parcels move through J&T Express, SPX Express, Flash Express, LBC and PHLPost. Addresses are organized by barangay, of which there are more than 42,000, and a 2025 House bill says the four-digit ZIP codes, largely unchanged since 1977, slow parcel delivery. PAGASA counts about 20 tropical cyclones entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility in an average year, mostly from July to October.
MyWay Route Planner orders your stops in one tap and shows the finish time and distance before and after optimizing. Use time windows to fit stops around coding hours, mark urgent parcels as ASAP, and save landmark directions in stop notes. Avoid tolls or ferries when needed, and after a flood or closure, skip or reorder stops and re-optimize the rest. Share the route by link and record proof of delivery.
