Route planner apps compared: free stops, prices and stop limits
6 min read
Short answer: most route planner apps cost $5 to $20 a month, and the free plans stop at 5 to 20 stops per route. The price tag isn’t the whole story, though: some cheap plans leave out things you’ll want every day — importing a list, time windows, even marking a stop as delivered — and one free plan lets your routes expire after a week. Below: what each app gives you for free, what it costs, and which one fits the routes you drive.
We make MyWay Route Planner, one of the apps in the table, so we’ve also noted where other apps are the better fit.
Free plans and prices at a glance
For one driver who plans their own route, in alphabetical order. Prices in US dollars, checked in October 2026.
| App | Free plan | Monthly | Yearly | Stops per route on paid plans |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MyWay Route Planner | 15 stops per route, unlimited routes | $9.99 (Pro) | $79.99 (Expert) | 200 (500 coming soon) |
| PlaceMaker | 5 stops, no optimization | $4.99 (25 stops), $9.99 (150), $14.99 (over 150) | $49.99, $79.99, $119.99 | 500 |
| RoadWarrior | 8 stops, no optimization | $15 (Pro) | $120 | 120 |
| Route4Me | 10 stops, routes expire after 7 days | $9.99 (Basic), $19.99 (Enhanced) | $79.99, $199.99 | Unlimited |
| RouteXL | 20 stops | €35 (100 stops), €70 (200 stops) | No yearly plan; day passes €5 and €10 | 200 |
| Spoke (formerly Circuit) | 10 stops | $9.99 (Lite), $19.99 (Standard) | 50% off, price not published | Unlimited |
| Upper (Upper Solo) | None, 3-day trial | $19.99 | $189.99 | 500 |
| Zeo | 12 routes a month, unlimited stops | $15.99 | $129 | Unlimited |
All of them are phone apps for iOS and Android except RouteXL, which runs only in a web browser. MyWay and Zeo also have a web version.
What the cheap plans leave out
A low price is only a good deal if the plan does what your working day needs. Here’s what we found:
- Spoke Lite ($9.99) can’t import a spreadsheet, add stops by voice or camera, or use time windows — that takes Standard at $19.99. Spreadsheet import also works only in Spoke’s Android app, and proof of delivery is part of Spoke Dispatch, the team product.
- Route4Me Basic ($9.99) has no stop limit, but you can’t mark a stop as visited or add a note to it; that takes Enhanced at $19.99 a month. The phone plans don’t include Route4Me’s web app.
- RoadWarrior’s free plan doesn’t optimize the order of your stops at all, and Pro stops at 120 stops. The free trial asks for a card.
- Zeo’s free plan counts routes, not stops: 12 routes a month is about three working days a week.
- PlaceMaker’s cheapest plan covers 25 stops, and the free plan doesn’t optimize.
- Upper Solo has no free plan, only a 3-day trial.
- RouteXL runs in the browser rather than as a phone app, and its prices are in euros.
MyWay Route Planner Pro ($9.99) includes spreadsheet and photo import, time windows and proof of delivery, and the free plan includes proof of delivery too. Its limit is route size: 200 stops per route today, 500 coming soon.
Which app fits your route?
| Your typical route | Options | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 15 stops, every day | Free: MyWay (15 stops, unlimited routes), RouteXL (20 stops, web only) | Spoke's free plan stops at 10, Zeo's at 12 routes a month |
| Up to 25 stops | PlaceMaker $4.99 a month | PlaceMaker's free plan doesn't optimize |
| Up to 150 stops | MyWay, PlaceMaker, Route4Me Basic and Spoke Lite at $9.99 | What each $9.99 plan leaves out (see above) |
| Up to 200 stops | MyWay $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year; Route4Me Basic $9.99 or $79.99 | Route4Me Basic can't mark stops as visited |
| More than 200 stops | Route4Me Basic $9.99; Zeo $15.99; Spoke Standard $19.99; Upper $19.99 (up to 500) | MyWay stops at 200 today |
Pay yearly and it gets cheaper: MyWay Expert, Route4Me Basic and PlaceMaker’s 150-stop plan work out at $6.67 a month, RoadWarrior at $10.00, Zeo at $10.75 and Upper at $15.83.
Apps built for teams, not solo drivers
Some well-known names have no plan for one driver. They’re built for a dispatcher who plans routes for several drivers, and they’re priced that way:
| App | Price | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| OptimoRoute | $39–$49 per driver a month (10% off yearly) | 30-day trial |
| Routific | $150 a month for 101–1,000 orders | Up to 100 orders a month |
| Spoke Dispatch | From $125 a month for 1,000 stops, then $0.04–$0.07 per stop | No free plan |
| Zeo fleet plans | From $290 a year per driver (3 routes a day, no driver app) | 7-day trial |
| Route4Me business plans | Contact sales | 7-day trial |
MyWay Teams, with a web dashboard for dispatchers and live driver tracking, is coming soon. Until then, drivers on a team can each use MyWay Route Planner Pro at $9.99 a month.
Where MyWay fits, and where it doesn’t
MyWay fits if you drive the route yourself, your routes are up to 200 stops, and you want import, time windows and proof of delivery in the $9.99 plan rather than a higher tier. The free plan covers routes of up to 15 stops with no monthly limit on routes.
Another app fits better if you regularly drive more than 200 stops in one route (Route4Me, Spoke, Zeo or Upper), or if a dispatcher needs to plan and track several drivers today (Spoke Dispatch, Routific or OptimoRoute).

FAQ
Which route planner app has the biggest free plan?
By stops per route, RouteXL (20 stops), but it runs in a web browser. Among phone apps, MyWay plans routes of up to 15 stops for free with no limit on the number of routes. Zeo’s free plan has no stop limit but allows 12 routes a month.
Is there a free route planner with unlimited stops?
Not with unlimited routes as well. Zeo’s free plan plans routes of any size, but only 12 a month. Every other free plan in this comparison caps the stops per route at 5 to 20.
Which app is cheapest for routes of more than 200 stops?
Route4Me Basic, at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, has no stop limit per route. Check whether you need to mark stops as visited or add notes; on Route4Me that takes the $19.99 Enhanced plan.
Can I use Google Maps as a free route planner?
For short routes. Google Maps takes up to 9 stops, including your final destination, plus your starting point, and drives them in the order you enter; it doesn’t work out the best order for you. More in Google Maps more than 10 stops.
Download MyWay Route Planner and plan your next route of up to 15 stops for free, or compare all plans on the pricing page.
How we checked
We read each app’s own pricing page, help center and App Store or Google Play listing on 1–2 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars unless marked, before tax. Zeo and PlaceMaker publish their phone-app prices only in their App Store descriptions, so those are the prices shown; the in-app purchase lists in the same listings show some older prices. PlaceMaker’s free limit is stated only on Google Play. Route4Me’s limits on its $9.99 plan come from its App Store listing; Spoke’s spreadsheet note comes from its help center. Where a website and a store listing disagreed, we used the newer one.
